Mama, Oskar and Oma in front of Crazy Horse
The first day in the Black Hills we participated in the Crazy Horse Volksmarch, a 10 kilometer walk up to the face of Crazy Horse. Normally you have to be a major donor in order to see the face close up, so the Volksmarch is quite special. The Volksmarsch is held the first full weekend in June. Checkout the website of Crazy Horse details about the Volksmarch. |

Heidi's way of hiking
To get the 10 kilometers, the hike wound through some woods first which was beautiful, too. Here is Heidi in the backpack during a rest. Many people envied her hiking style and wanted to trade spaces. |

The proof
Mama, Papa, Oskar and Heidi (can't see her really) stand on the stretched out arm of Crazy Horse. 9,294 people hiked the two day event, so there are a bunch of people up here. Oskar hiked most of the way by himself. His parents are simply to lazy to carry him. |
