    Lung Shan Temple

The view of one of the buddhas at the historical Lung Shan temple in Taipei, Taiwan. The smoke is from all the incense.

    Buddha's Guard

Unlike the Buddhas the guards have their eyes wide open to be watchful.

    The Grand Hotel in Taipei

One of the sights of Taipei, Taiwan. This luxury hotel is built in the grand style of Chinese architecture.

    Pedestrian Light

The pedestrian lights in Taipei, Taiwan are interesting. When the light is green a countdown shows how many seconds you have time to cross the light. Also the green person is animated and starts running before it gets red. Video of the pedestrian light (210kb avi)

    Chiang Kai-Sheck Memorial Hall

This memorial resides in Taipei, Taiwan. With it's huge dimensions of the surrounding park the buildings don't look as huge as they are. Besides the memorial hall there are the National Concert Hall and the National Theater which also are huge and impressive.

As a general Chiang Kai-Sheck along with Sun Yat-Sen started the Republic of China. He became the president of the Republic of China (aka. Taiwan).

    Prosperity Kitty

Nearly every store in Taiwan has a figurine of such a cat. The cat is supposed to bring in business for the store. Some of the cats have an arm that moves and waves the customers in. This one is unusual since it has a bunch of baby kittens with it.

    Hong Kong Island

A view of the Hong Kong island from a viewing area on a peak. A little to the right, off the picture, is our hotel where we had our room in the 15th floor.

    Tsing Ma Bridge

When arriving at the Hong Kong international airport everybody has to cross the Tsing Ma Bridge. With it's 1.36 miles (2.2 kilometers) it is the longest road and rail suspension bridge in the world.

    Fishing Boat

One of the many Fishing boats in Hong Kong.

    Giant Buddha

Claus and Melissa in front of the world largest seated Buddha. It's located on the Lantau Island of Hong Kong. To go up to the Buddha one has to buy a ticket for a vegetarian meal from the Po Lin monastery located right beside it.

    Ladies' Market

Masses of people near the Ladies' Market, one of the big market streets in Hong Kong. Everywhere in Hong Kong stores and stalls sell things to people. It's a trade crazy city.

    Giant Buddah's Servers

Set of bronse statues around the Giant Buddah. It's located on the Lantau Island of Hong Kong. In the background you can see one of the many hills that are unpopulated and look very inviting for an hike.

    Taipei Airport

Our airplane arriving at the gate in Taipei on our way back from Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific Airlines had this brand new airplane with a cam installed in the tail that one can view on your personal display screen along with many video and audio channel. Watching your plane fly felt like a video game with moving chair.
