    Melissa playing with a crawler

During her research for John Deere at Iowa State University Melissa got the opportunity to drive a crawler in a test field in Dubuque, Iowa.

    Melissa and Claus being crazy

This picture was one of Melissa's little I'm bored projects. Paint Shop Pro was used to create the special effects.

    Melissa sailing

We rented this Zuma sail boat from the Outdoor Recreation Center at Iowa State University. The Zuma is great for two people who are starting out sailing and it's a lot of fun to sail this boat.

    Claus sailing

We are sailing at Big Creek lake which is about 30 minutes south of Ames. The nice part about Big Creek is that there is a no wake policy (meaning the motor boats are not allowed to go fast enough to create a wave) and therefore very good for begining sailors. Also Big Creek is a beautiful lake.

Melissa and Claus at the gulf coast of northern Florida

Here we are on our summer 1999 vacation in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. It was a blast: nice white sand, beautiful clear water, and to many dead fish.

Melissa is the drummer of the dragon boat

This is our first Dragonboat race that we participated. A dragon boat has about 21 person in it: 18 paddlers, a drummer to give cadence, a flag catcher, and a steersman to steer the boat (due to the cost of the dragon boat this person is a professional).

    Is it a prince?

A toad in our little yard by our mobile home.

    Melissa in her ballroom gown

We performed a dance demonstration at the elementary school where Melissa's mom workes. The first time Melissa wears this dress!
