  • About K1

Every development project has a code name that later gets dropped for the real name. This project's code name is K1 which stands for kid (or as they say in German "Kind") 1 since it's the first one. The official name probably won't be finalized until the release date.

Should this project fail we always can skip right to a K9 ;)

    Development of K1

Around February 20, 2003 The bee and the ... To make a long story short, Melissa and Claus had some fun and thus K1 came about. Everything went according to the Masterplan.
March 8, 2003 Melissa suspected something. Could it be? Look here.
March 10, 2003 Just to be sure Melissa doubled checked. Yes!!!
March 26, 2003 First Doctor visit. Paper war. Nothing exciting besides Melissa's physical checkup. Hey they have a light up speculum. :)
April 25, 2003 Second doctor visit. The first time we hear K1's heartbeat with a pulse of 150. Man, that kid is already stressed out like daddy.
May 29, 2003 Third doctor visit. This time the heartbeat of K1 was not as clear as last time. The baby must me hiding somewhere in Melissa's belly. Melissa is starting to show a little.
June 13, 2003 "Oh my, I am almost sure I just felt some movement. Before, I think I might have, but I've had so many weird gas bubbles that I couldn't be sure, but today I forgot to eat my mid-morning snack, so no gas for K1 to hide in! K1 must be doing some somersaults because I felt 5 or 6 little nudges. It's certainly too mild to feel outside yet, though. How exciting!" -- Melissa
June 18, 2003 Fourth doctor visit and ultrasound. We finally got to see the little munchkin. We also found out it's a boy! He looks healthy so far. We saw him from the front/back and from the side/top as you can see in these pictures. In this film, we were able to see as well as hear his heartbeat!
July 18, 2003 Fifth doctor visit. The results from the AFP and Cystic Fibrosis tests both came back normal! (AFP checks for increased risk of Down's Syndrome, Spina Bifida, and Trisomy 18. The Cystic Fibrosis test checks to see if I am a carrier for this disease.)
The belly is now measuring 22cm... right on track! His heartbeat was 140-150... until he started moving, when it jumped to 170! Movements are regular now and Claus has even felt a few of them!
    November 2003 Expected due date.
