Bulletin Board Systems

Bulletin Board Systems are sites where discussions and chatting is encouraged. The concept of BBS is older than the graphical WWW. A BBS is text based and does not contain any pictures or graphics. But then pictures are not needed for discussions and chatting. The Roady's & Dox's BBS Client is a pretty good MS-Windows client that works with ISCA and a few other BBSs. While it is possible to connect to a BBS via telnet it is highly recommend to use a client when possible.

ISCA BBS - (Web Site)


ISCA BBS is one of the oldest and biggest BBSs. It is located and maintained by the University of Iowa. On this BBS Claus and Melissa met for the first time. Claus has the goes by the nickname "Swabian" on this BBS. Melissa's account has been expired for a while.
Karanet - (Web Site)

Karanet is a very good BBS in Austria. Most of the BBS is bilingual, English and German. Claus and Melissa used to have accounts on this BBS and Claus was even a Sysop for a while. However, we don't have enough time anymore to spend on the BBS.

The latest addiction of Melissa. There are a lot of games that you can play by yourself (against the computer) or (better) against other people on the net. You'll never be lonely there since this site is always crowded with people.
