  • Saylorville Lake

Saylorville is the largest lake with 5,400 acres within our vicinity. The lake was build and is managed by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a flood control reservoir. This gives the lake a few distinctive attributes such as extreme fluctuating water levels and an ugly shore line, at least in my opinion.

The lake has five multi-lane boat ramps. Two of which are in Jester State Park and don't have a dock but are free. The other three do have a short dock and charge a $3 boat ramp fee. I find that the docks are to short and inaccessible to be sailed from and to without the usage of a motor.

One can see a lot of motor boats, speed boats, jet skiers, and bigger sailboats. The nice part of the lake is its size and the mile long bridge, which is tall enough to be sailed through.

In regards to prettiness and accessibility I prefer its smaller sibling the Big Creek Lake.
